Septorhinoplasty

Septorhinoplasty is another term for septoplasty the art and medical science of repairing a deviated septum. However, when the two are differentiated it is generally because the former, septorhinoplasty, is meant as a more cosmetic approach to the deviation of the septum. This for of nasal restructuring is for both correction of the septum and beautification of the nose in a manner the owner of said nose might like.

Typically this type of cosmetic surgery will accompany normal rhinoplasty as performed by a closed or open procedure. The goal is to even out the septum so that airflow will no longer be impeded and to possibly give the nose a straighter more intriguing appearance. Once most of the cartilage has been removed from the septum there will often be plastic tubes or similar supports placed within as extra supports. This will perfect the airflow and help improve overall healthy.

During a septorhinoplasty other cosmetic surgeries are typically performed as well unlike a simple septoplasty. These procedures generally involve augmenting the nose or reducing it in a manner directed prior to surgery. Often this procedure is also done to correct nasal fractures from injury. Of course there is also facial reconstruction surgery in which building an entire nose often occurs. During this process nose surgeries often occur as well and this variety is a somewhat common occurrence in such procedures due to the need to reshape the rebuilt nose to match the features of the patient.

All plastic surgery comes with risk and the most common side effects of this variety are swelling, temporary difficulty breathing, and in some rare instances infection will occur as well. The latter issue generally occurs more often in black market or backdoor procedures that people undergo due to budget restraints.
